弥山の麓にある紅葉谷公園は、その名の通り、イロハモミジやオオモミジをはじめとする数種類のモミジが、谷間を美しく彩る公園です。約700本のモミジは、赤から橙、黄色へと色づいて、見事なグラデーションを描いていました。屏風を広げたような豪華な色彩は、山の傾斜や川の流れに沿って、様々に表情を変え、私たちの目を楽しませてくれます。宮島桟橋から徒歩20分、厳島神社からは15分ほどです。見頃は例年、11月中旬から下旬です。
