Fans of Hiromu Arakawa's manga have a chance to step into two of her worlds this summer, with the "Fullmetal Alchemist x Yomi no Tsugai Exhibition" now open at Matsuya Ginza in Tokyo.
Running from August 13 to September 2, the exhibition brings together Fullmetal Alchemist and Yomi no Tsugai to celebrate major milestones for both series. Fullmetal Alchemist marks its 25th anniversary in 2026, while Yomi no Tsugai celebrates its fifth anniversary.
The exhibition features more than 300 original drawings, rough sketches and other materials from Arakawa, giving fans a chance to see her artwork up close. There are also large-scale displays and three-dimensional installations, including the iconic Gate of Truth from Fullmetal Alchemist.
The Yomi no Tsugai section includes displays introducing the story's characters and their relationships, along with a large Gabriel figure that fans can photograph. There are also exhibits bringing the two series together, making this more than simply two separate manga exhibitions.
The exhibition recently welcomed Romi Park, the voice of Edward Elric in the Fullmetal Alchemist anime, and Yume Miyamoto, who voices Asa in the Yomi no Tsugai anime. Both praised the chance to see Arakawa's original artwork in person, with Park particularly recommending the exhibition's Q&A section featuring Arakawa's responses to fan questions.
For anime and manga fans visiting Tokyo, this is a chance to experience the artwork behind two of Arakawa's most celebrated series, including original pieces that don't quite have the same impact on a screen.
