Sanlaiva Ski Resort in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido, presents endless slopes of powdery-white snow for skiers and snowboarders. Conveniently located near Karurusu Onsen—the perfect side trip after you’ve finished skiing—Sanlaiva has three lifts to ferry would-be snow-sport enthusiasts to the beginning of the slopes.

It’s a good place for beginners as well as Sanlaiva offers lessons and rental for skiing and snowboarding equipment and proper attire. There are seven slope courses for people to enjoy, with two for beginners—and all slopes are also snowboard-friendly. While you’re there, you’re sure to get hungry; stop by Sanlaiva’s restaurant area for hot ramen, soba, or curry and rice.
