Sasayama Castle is not grand or lavish like its regional neighbors, Osaka Castle and Himeji Castle (arguably Japan's greatest). But it is rustic and serene, and it offers nice views of the surrounding countryside.
It is worth a stop if you are driving north through Hyogo Prefecture from Kobe, and you should definitely walk over if you happen to be down the block at the annual Tamba Sasayama Inoshishi Matsuri.
