For many travelers, Marunouchi is the gateway to Tokyo, thanks to its location beside the city's iconic railway station. This summer, however, it's worth lingering a little longer, as the district hosts the MARUNOUCHI SUMMER FEST, transforming streets, plazas, and public spaces into a month-long celebration of food, culture, art, and entertainment.

Spanning the Marunouchi, Otemachi, and Yurakucho areas, the festival features more than 100 experiences designed to encourage visitors to explore the district in new ways. A highlight is the Flower Corridor along Marunouchi Naka-dori, where vibrant floral displays add a refreshing splash of color to the streetscape. Throughout the festival, visitors can also enjoy hands-on workshops, interactive experiences, seasonal food offerings, and plenty of opportunities to relax between sightseeing stops.

Many of the festival's biggest attractions are held on selected days, making it worthwhile to check the event schedule before visiting. Highlights include the Marunouchi Bon Odori, where traditional Japanese dancing takes place against the stunning backdrop of Tokyo Station, the atmospheric Path of Japanese Lights featuring illuminated paper umbrellas at Wadakura Fountain Park, and the lively Otemachi Festival, complete with classic festival games, street food, and live performances.

Elsewhere, art lovers can take advantage of special evening openings at the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum, while families can enjoy LEGO® experiences, eco-themed workshops, children's activities, and educational programs spread throughout the district. Visitors looking to experience Tokyo after dark can also enjoy rooftop beer terraces, evening walking tours, and special dining promotions that showcase the area from a different perspective.
