Mochi Museum at Okage Yokocho

Mouth-watering models at Mochi-Kaido Monogatari

Cathy Cawood   - 1분 읽은 시간

Traditional Japanese sweets are made with just 3 main ingredients: small red adzuki beans, sugar, and finely polished rice, yet somehow there seems to be an endless variety of different sweets. At Okage Yokocho near Ise Shrine you can visit a small traditional sweets museum, and see models of many different sweets, as well as Edo Era coins and various other exhibits. The name of the museum is Mochi-kaido Monogatari, which approximately means 'The story of traditional sweets'. Entrance to the museum is free. There are no English explanations, but there is lots to look at!
