Chocolate mint has returned to Japan’s convenience stores for summer, with FamilyMart bringing back its annual Chocolate Mint Collection event. The lineup covers ice cream, sweets, baked goods, and chilled drinks, all rolling out from mid-May across roughly 16,000 stores nationwide.

Chocolate mint is a familiar seasonal flavor in Japan and tends to reappear every summer. It has become something of a routine release rather than a novelty, with a steady group of fans who look out for it each year as temperatures rise. Its appeal is fairly straightforward, since that minty freshness works extremely well with the heat and humidity.

This year marks the third run of FamilyMart’s chocolate mint fair, which first launched in 2024. The 2026 collection includes both returning products and new items, with staggered release dates depending on the product.

The ice cream range includes a returning chocolate mint waffle cone which has previously been a strong seller, along with a standard chocolate mint ice cream packed with chocolate pieces. Both focus on the familiar combination of mint ice cream and chocolate mix-ins, just in different formats.

Newer additions expand into sweets and drinks. The Chocolate Mint Crunch has multiple layers of biscuit and waffle cone pieces coated in mint chocolate, while a chilled chocolate mint drink offers a quick, ready-to-go option for hot days.

As for the baked goods selection, the lineup includes a chocolate mint tart, a soft chocolate mint pound cake, and a chocolate mint stick cake.
